A penguin next to a library - where can one find something like that? In Antarctica, of course! The library is called "Library in the Ice" ("Bibliothek im Eis"). It is a project by the artist Lutz Fritsch. The green container that houses the unique library has been standing near the German research station Neumayer since 2005. Scientists who spend the winter in the eternal ice of Antarctica can find a little escape from the white surroundings in this cozy library.
At the end of 2023, the world children's book "Am I small?" received an invitation from the artist Lutz Fritsch to enrich the library. The German-English bilingual edition of the picture book now brings a little color into the lives of the scientists there.
Many thanks for the invitation!
